We Reward Experience!
We are seeking officers from all walks of life, and from all over the country!
Applicants who are currently employed as a Full-Time Police Officer, with at least one year of Full-Time law enforcement experience, are eligible for additional benefits.

Existing Full-Time Police Officers Receive Additional Incentives
- Qualifying candidates will receive credit for up to a maximum of three (3) completed service for purposes of determining starting wages.
- In addition to normal benefit time accruals, qualifying candidates will be given a one-time lump sum payment of (40) hours of vacation upon appointment.

No need to attend another Police Academy
The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board recognizes most out-of-state police academy training. Qualifying officers from out-of-state will begin a 4-week orientation phase during which they will completed an Illinois Law Course and an Abbreviated Firearms training before being administered the state certification exam.
All officers will then complete a 14-week Field Training Program.
How do I begin my career?
Whether you’re someone with no experience, or you’re a law enforcement veteran, the process is simple.
What you need to participate
- Individuals who served in the United States Armed Forces may exceed the maximum age requirements by 1 year for each year of active duty service, up to 10 years.
- There is no age limit for individuals who are, or were previously certified police officers.
Education info – Candidates must have the following:
- An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, or
- At least 64 credit hours towards a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject
The above education requirements may be waived under the following circumstances:
- Individuals with at least 2 years of active duty service in the United States Armed Forces
- Individuals with at least 2 years of experience as a full-time police officer
